Hi, Vanessa here.
My journey in caregiving started long before I ever knew it would become my life’s calling. I was just eight years old when my mother sent me to Charlotte to help my aunt recover from surgery.
I didn’t think much of it at the time—I was simply doing what I was asked. But my aunt saw something in me. She affectionately started calling me her “Little Nurse,” and in that moment, something inside me clicked.
For the first time, I felt the deep joy of serving and caring for someone in need.
That experience stayed with me as I grew up, and when the time came to choose a career, the medical field was a natural fit.
I found my purpose in dialysis care, where I worked as a technician for 15 years. It was a demanding job—one where precision and compassion went hand in hand.
One mistake in dialysis could be life-threatening, and I took that responsibility seriously. My managers trusted me to train others, and patients would specifically request me because they knew I genuinely cared.
More than anything, I was fulfilled by the relationships I built and the knowledge that I was making a difference in people’s lives.
Through my work in dialysis, I began caring for seniors, and I quickly realized they were my favorite patients. Their resilience, their stories, and their wisdom captivated me.
Every conversation was an opportunity to learn, and every interaction reaffirmed my belief in the importance of compassionate care.
It’s no coincidence that our company is called Wisdom Senior Care—because the wisdom of the seniors we serve is one of life’s greatest treasures.
So when Whitney approached me with the opportunity to partner with her in serving seniors in the Charlotte area, there was no hesitation.
I knew this was my chance to take everything I had learned—my passion, my experience, and my love for caregiving—and use it to make a real difference in people’s lives.
It’s more than just a career. It’s a calling, and I am honored to be a part of something that allows me to give back to a community that has given me so much.
