Wisdom Senior Care
7002 Hodgson Memorial Dr, Suite 107 Savannah , GA 31406
After growing up in a military family and traveling around the world, Carolyn Thurston was used to navigating labyrinthine systems and regulations to serve others in need. When she experienced the many issues surrounding healthcare—barriers to coverage, the unique struggles seniors faced with Medicare, and the daunting complexity of the overall system— she was inspired to make a difference. With her nursing and home care management background, she thought she could help seniors get the assistance they needed. From seeing how older adults are taken care of in other cultures, she began looking for ways to fulfill her passion for working with the elder community.
With a background in nursing, Carolyn Thurston has extensive experience working with individuals with kindness, compassion, and patience. Currently owner of Wisdom Health Academy, she is leading programs to better trained “Skilled Experts” who take direct care of our seniors. The in-house institut allows Wisdom Senior care brand to have resources to prepare the skilled experts usually referred to as caregivers. Through her academy business, she was able to improve the lives of dozens of families feeling exhausted and uncertain how to help their older loved ones thrive with aging. After learning and applying the KoBiYe business model to her businesses, she realized immediately that she could use this same model to help more seniors live healthy, fulfilling, enriched lives. She selected franchising as à mean to help other owners and build à community of successful owners.
Some seniors have a history of good genes: it is normal for older adults to live well into their 80s and 90s. However, when they can no longer live independently, there are not always enough able-bodied relatives to care for them. Carolyn and her team help many elders stay away from the bad experience of some long-term care facilities. Although the staff in these facilities tried their best, most of the facilities don’t have very good conditions. Carolyn remembered from her own experience being greeted by an unpleasant odor each time she entered those types of buildings. She made it à mission to help seniors or anybody in à situation of limitations in daily activities to spend her golden years in a happier environment: Their homes. Later in life, she volunteered with many organizations advocating for seniors' well being, joined forces with other senior care advocates to educate the population on aging, nurturing her interest in elder care as she nurtures the spirits of elders feeling lonely or forgotten.
As an instructor to CNAs, Carolyn had a talent for bringing relief to worn-out skilled experts (caregivers). Her experience in taking care of individuals with Alzheimer and dementia typically labeled as “Difficult cases,” position her as à great resource. To help seniors with special needs, to learn to do what they are not able to remember, she found out what they liked and used that as a way to motivate and reinforce their memories. The care offered even to individuals going through hospice, allows them to live longer instead of having to end up in à facility. She is excited to use her background to help seniors continue living healthy social lives, maintain their daily grooming and hygiene routines, stay physically fit, and live at their best where they’re already happy and comfortable—even when they may be hesitant to accept help from a caregiver at first.
Inspired from childhood to take care of seniors, impressed by how the KoBiYe business model can allow her to improve the healthcare system for seniors, Carolyn Thurston founded Wisdom Senior Care to rally more passionate individuals to the mission. Bringing like minded people together through Wisdom’s franchising opportunities is her focus. Carolyn was excited to discover that franchising was another viable option for fulfilling her passion for working with the elder community. Carolyn is thrilled at the opportunity to use her background and experience in home care to further Wisdom’s mission of providing compassionate care through kind, respectful caregivers who treat seniors like members of their own family.
